Carlo Petrini (Bra, 1949), known as "Carlin," is a gastronome, writer, and founder of the international Slow Food movement.
For decades, he has promoted a new cultural paradigm based on the principle of "good, clean, and fair," with the aim of integrating quality, sustainability, and social justice into food systems. The creator of global initiatives such as Terra Madre and Salone del Gusto, he is among the promoters of the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo. The author of numerous essays translated worldwide, in 2013 he received the United Nations "Champions of the Earth" award. He is the director of 10,000 food gardens in Africa and, among others, of the Laudato Sì Communities.
In 2014, he received an honorary degree from the International University College of Turin. He is Honorary President of Slow Finance, helping to extend the principles of slow culture to economic and financial systems.
