Slow Finace in practice: the special project of Amedeo

Some investments are measured in financial returns.

Others are measured in forests preserved, biodiversity restored, and landscapes protected for future generations.

This is the vision behind a remarkable initiative led by Amedeo Martiradonna, who has acquired the mountain overlooking the historic Monastery of Lanzo, in the Lanzo Valleys (Piedmont, Italy), with a simple yet ambitious purpose: to preserve it as a biodiversity reserve and protect its natural ecosystem.

Rather than viewing land as an asset to be exploited, the project embraces a regenerative philosophy. The mountain will be safeguarded as a living landscape where nature, wildlife and local biodiversity can thrive, demonstrating that ownership can also be a form of stewardship.

Slow Finance is pleased to announce the launch of a collaboration with this initiative, which will become a case study in regenerative finance, ecological conservation and natural capital.

The project will be supported through the Slow Finance UNiCO International Campus at the Annunziata of Costigliole d'Asti, where it will be incubated within the Slow Finance Decelerator, a programme dedicated to projects that privilege long-term value creation over short-term financial extraction.

Slow Finance will also facilitate the exploration of a strategic partnership with ALTES Ventures, while promoting the initiative through the Bank of Gratitude, recognising its ability to generate environmental, cultural and social value for future generations. Protecting a mountain is more than an environmental gesture.

It is an investment in natural capital, biodiversity, community resilience and the common good. It is, in every sense, Slow Finance in action.
